This year, we have managed to enrol young girls in the MHCD schools.
The good news is that our students sat the state exam. We had a total of 94, including 39 girls and 55 boys, who sat the state exam in sewing (tailoring), information technology, social studies, general education, car mechanics and general mechanics.
In primary school, 47 pupils sat the national exam to complete primary school in Sange and 42 in Luvungi, making a total of 89 pupils who sat the national exam to complete primary school.
All this shows the positive impact of our education programme on young people, especially orphans and other vulnerable children in the DRC.
As for the medical school, we had a total of 56 students, 19 of whom sat the state examination in nursing and midwifery.
We are very pleased and delighted to inform you that in almost every village in the Territory of Uvira you will find midwives and nurses working that are the fruits of the MHCD, which makes our work a source of pride.
Through the medical training programme, we have succeeded in reducing the infant mortality rate, contributed to the socio-economic and health development of the area and promoted primary health care. We have also contributed to the training of the traditional midwives in different villages.
Through the education programme called Luvungi Education Fund supported by Bethesda Ministries International (BMI) Australia in Luvungi and Nathan Dietsch in Sange, we have succeeded in fighting poverty and giving a better life of joy and happiness to many vulnerable children, especially orphans, single mothers and internally displaced people.
We also thank MHCD Australia Support Association for supporting MHCD DRC programme.
